There will be a retreat and potluck for Write Away members on Saturday, October 17th from 10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. in Argyle.

ACTIVITIES

From 10:00 until noon we will do writing exercises and enjoy coffee and muffins. We usually share the results of the writing exercises with the group, but feel free to opt out. At noon, we will break for a potluck (please bring a dish – full kitchen facilities will be available for heating up food etc.).

From 1:00 – 2:00 members will have a chance to read a piece of their work or share what they have been working on recently. Please limit readings to five minutes. Let us know if you want feedback from the group. 2:00 – 3:00 we will be time for free writing and a time to discuss books, writing, and the latest in all genres.

The schedule is loose enough that we can choose to change it a bit if we wish to. If you have some other ideas please send them to Judy.

EXERCISES

We will need at least four exercises to work from. They can be short or long. Judy will provide one. Please let her know who will do the other three.

LOCATION – 230 Spinney Road in Argyle

Take 103 to exit 31 turnoff to West Pubnico etc. – you will pass the Petrocan station on your left. Continue straight. Just past the Creamy Treat you will turn right and continue about 4km or so (don’t turn off until you reach the Spinney Road on the left, which is just about 1km past the turnoff for Argyle Sound Road). On Spinney Road, you will pass an old school on your right – a driveway – and two houses before reaching the causeway. You will continue over the causeway and up over the hill where you will see two houses at the end of the road. We will be in the main house. NOTE: Judy will post a notice close to the road on lime green Bristol board to alert you to the road and the workshop. Margaret Ommanney lives off Spinney Road, so if any of you have been to her place you will follow the road past her driveway.

Judy will have my cell phone with her. If you get lost along the way give her a call at 902-740-7888.

Don’t forget your potluck and it would be helpful if you would let Judy know if you are coming or not so that people have an idea of headcount for preparing food. Thanks everyone! It should be a fun day with the chance to write and talk about our passion.
